The north and south Cyprus are divided by a line called the Green
line .In 1974 the country was invade by the Turks and then the two
regions were created .The Northern Cyprus culture is influenced by
Turks and southern by Greek. It can be said to be a combination of
Roman ,Greek ,Turkish and Arab culture.
Nicosis is the capital city of Cyprus and one of the six independent district .Some of the very beautiful historical places , museums and administrative buildings are located in the city. It is also one of the largest districts of Cyprus.
Other important district of Cyprus is Paphos where some of the very economical and Palm tree hotels are available with an amazing view of the sea line and the golden beaches.
To enter the Country the two ways are by air or the water and Larnaca is the district where the major international airport of Cyprus is located and Limassol has the chief port of the Republic of Cyprus.

Kyrenia has the famous and beautiful harbor of Cyprus. Agia Napa and Nicosia are popular for its markets and all shopping can be done here. Other districts are Famagusta, Protaras , Guzelyurt are famous for there empty and big beaches.
The history of Cyprus goes back 9000 years to the bronze age since then the commercialization and trade centers were developed here.
Food is Arab in origin is a well developed dish appealing to Turkish Cypriot taste, preparation and presentation, since there were Arabs who passed it to Turks. There are a number of wines made of different kinds of grapes, ranging from dry white and red wines to medium dry and sweet, cherries, brandies, or the famous Commandaria.
For shopping the popular markets are in Ayia Napa. The biggest supermarket chain in Northern Cyprus is Lemar and Astro.

Kyrenia and Nicosia have the best selection of shops. Most popular marketed items are ceramics ,wood items ,silver wares, copper products .You need to bargain for the cost with the shopkeeper. Good wines ,brandy and liquor are also popular of Cyprus.
The landscape of Cyprus vary from long coastline to the sandy golden beaches ,the forest covered hills and the rocky mountains.
Places to visit in Cyprus are many like the beaches , historical sites, museums ,the local villages ,festival carnivals, dams and mountains . |
