A historical place near Paphos called the Mosaic of Paphos are very
popular tour spot that shows the Greek god Aphrodite.
According to the Greek mythology Cyprus is considered to be the birth place of the goddess of beauty and love called the Aphrodite.
Present at Paphos according to Hesiod's Theogony, the goddess emerged fully grown from the sea where the severed genitals of the god Uranus were cast by his son, Kronos, causing the sea to foam , depicted by the artist Botticelli in The Birth of Venus.
This site of Aphrodite Birth is at Aphrodite's Rock also called Petra Tou Romiou in Greek. It is a large sea stack near the coastal cliff of Paphos.
